Thanks to all of you for your interest in EGB's website. Here is a quick "Ning 101" to give you some tips on using the website. Please let me know if you have other questions or if something is unclear. Please email bostonegb@gmail.com with questions.

1) Events: Events show up on the front page and in the Events tab. Any member can create them. Go to the events tab, click "Add new event," fill in the fields and hit save. Don't forget to have a picture ready - you will need this before you can create an event.

2) Groups: creating and responding to group discussions- For example, if someone wants to start a discussion on organizing an activity, go to Groups - click on the Events Group and click on start a discussion. If you go down to the bottom of the page you will see it gives you the option to Follow the discussion. This means that when someone replies you will receive an email letting you know there is a response. This is helpful because you don't have to constantly check the website for responses. Note: the email will tell you there is a new post, but will not include the info in the email - you will need to go to the website.

In addition, if there is some information you need to get to the group quickly, you may post a message to the group (upper right-hand side). This post will be emailed to everyone in the group and show all of the information that you send, but it will not show up on the website.

As for the comment section, I would try to avoid using the comments for any important information, as it will not send a notice to the group that there is a new comment. The comment section if for less important information that does not need to be seen promptly.

3) Broadcasting: If you would like to have a message sent to the entire website - for important information to be seen quickly - please email me with the message and I will post to everyone on the website (it will go to their email addresses).

4) Posting a job: Go to Forum, click on Job Openings, then click on start a discussion.

5) Photos and Videos: Make sure when you post photos and videos to properly label them for ease of finding them in a search.

6) Forums: if there is a category not present on Forums that you think would be helpful, please let me know. Like in groups, you can go down to the bottom of Forums and select Notify. This means you will get emails when new discussions are posted in Forums.

Note: Forums are good for posting things that you want to appear bold on the home page of the website, such as upcoming activities and events. If you do post an event in the forum section, it would also be helpful to post the event on the calender of events as well, with details such as time and location/ directions.

7) Blog posts: Blogs are posted from My Page. Note: All blogs will show up on the home page for everyone to see.
